It’s arms, arms, everywhere you look! The strength of this system right now appears to be in a big wave of quality pitching. Twenty-eight of my top 50 are hurlers, and there were absolutely severals others who could have made this list, but got elbowed out of the way at the last minute. (There’s more on the way, too! Keep an eye on a kid named Melvin Pineda next year).

We’re in a particularly pitchy part of the list at the moment, as all five of today’s subjects — and nine of the next 11 players — toe the ol’ rubber. For you fans of nasty stuff on the black, now is your time! As it happens, today’s particular group of pitchers is heavy on relative newcomers, so perhaps it’s a good time to catch up on things and get better acquainted with folks.
