"worry that his body is going to get big enough to limit his mobility behind the plate as well as his receiving and framing ability." I wonder if that's what eventually did Genovese in. Seemed like he showed enough hitting at the early levels to give some hope there.

Genovés is pretty flexible for his size, but I do think that's been an issue for him.

Crikey! So much for a position of strength (as had been thought). I sure hope the rest of the positions have a more positive view or its looking like the farm took a really big step back in '22.

We’ll catcher is probably never a position of strength for any club. It’s just such a demanding set of skills, as you can tell by the perpetually weak crop of major leaguers who fill it

Thanks for this piece. I’m looking forward to the full series. I think you missed the color-coding in the last table for Sabol? Assuming you have him at 40-45?

No I coded him as I have him, which is 35+. As I said in the final paragraph, that puts him in a tough spot as a Rule 5 guy since a R5 guy can't go up and down, he has to stay up. So maybe, drinking from the fire hose gets him up from 35+ to a solid 40? We'll see.

However, I now am seeing that the line I had in this piece at one point in its incarnation that explained the darker shade of gray, seems to have slipped away at some point in its evolution. I gave guys a darker shade of gray to show that they were 35+ in my book. Usually that's because they were closer to who they were at this point in time, as opposed to some of the rookie ball types where it's more of a "keep an eye on this kid" grade
