This is the eighth of a series of depth charts, taking a comprehensive look at each position across the entire SF Giants’ organization. So far, we’ve looked at:

  • Catcher

  • First Base

  • Second Base

  • Shortstop

  • Third Base

  • Corner Outfield

  • Center Field

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a festive holiday season, full of joy and laughter, surrounded by the ones you love!

And with my little break behind me, time to polish off the ol’ depth charts. I don’t know about you, but these are really helping me clarify my thinking for My Top 50 (which will, after much teasing, finally be coming up in the not too distant future). So let me just check where I left off, and see which position is up next….yes, I see, I see…it looks like we’re up to….Pitchers?

OMG no! I can’t be expected to come off a holiday break and immediately pump out coherent thoughts on the thousands of pitching prospects in this system! We’re gonna need to ease into the thousands of words the pitching crop is going to need.

We’d better break this up into some manageable chunks. I need to build my stamina back up a little bit — and I’m sure you do, too! So today, let’s start with a position that has, almost certainly, the fewest total bodies in it of any in the organization — but what they lack in bulk, they may well more than make up for in impact! It’s the position the industry values over maybe any other — the left handed starters!

You’d best believe you’re gonna get a heaping helping of this right here:

This one’s gonna be fun!
