We’re down to our final group selection of this year’s Top 50 — well, mostly — and, continuing our theme from Wednesday, we’re going to start seeing more and more players who could impact the Giants’ near-term future. As many as half of the remaining players we’ll meet have a pretty realistic chance of joining the order of Major League Players before this year concludes — and that’s just the really good chances. Start getting into “Stranger Things” scenarios and we could widen that scope significantly. After all, a year ago at this time Luis Matos, Marco Luciano, and Patrick Bailey were no closer to the majors than Aeverson Arteaga, Grant McCray, or #19 prospect Trevor McDonald are today.
From here on out, we have a fascinating mix of “could help out immediately” with “next wave forming.” Is this the first trickling of a steady flow down the pipeline? That is the fundamental question rising up before us that could define 2024 on the Giants’ farm. Pretty exciting! The times they are a-changing….hopefully!
So buckle up folks, because we are rounding third and heading for home in this year’s Top 50!
