such good stuff on your podcasts. thanks. but a question, while you and Pavlovic talked about Schmidt it seemed like he was being described as all field/no hit but his numbers so far are pretty good. are there indications that his bat has a lower floor or are there issues when digging a little deeper? an enquiring mind wants to know!
Definitely not all glove/no hit but every player has questions and for Schmitt those questions mostly are in the offensive side. MLB 3b has very high offensive bar so he needs to be really good and in particular have above average game power to profile as starter. So those are things to watch this year. How’s the walk rate, the chase rate, the ISO etc
ah, yes, got it. thanks. so if we find out he can hold his own at SS that would be really good news - though i'm not really expecting CS to be a bona fide SS.
Perhaps he thinks that Marco is unlikely to return to LIDOM for the 2023/2024 season and made the trade in hopes that Noel will play this season? Estrellas is in win-now mode while Escogido has been struggling mightily last few seasons.
There has been a lot of churn in the LIDOM ranks this offseason. Perhaps related to the first ever "free agency" that is taking place this year, I'm not sure. The Gigantes del Cibao named their field manager of the last few seasons as their new GM and were in discussions with a new manager until that potential manager was announced as the new hire by Toros del Este. I don't have enough español to follow it clearly but things seem rather fluid out there!

Yeah I’d be surprised by that
MARCO LUCIANO HAS BEEN TRADED!
(from Estrellas to Escogido in LIDOM)
per: https://www.escogido.com/marco-luciano-llega-al-escogido-via-cambio/
That's rough! The GM of Estrellas is Giants Director of International Scouting!
Oh wait - looks like Manny Garcia is now the GM of Estrellas per the February 2nd tweet:
