I have been probably unfairly pessimistic about Bishop because of his poor short-season performance. Like, there are extenuating factors! I understand that intellectually, but I still want to see something in his performance that makes me think the issues at the plate he's always displayed won't get worse as he faces better pitching. And his time in Salem-Keizer was not encouraging on that front.

Best I can hope, I guess, is that whenever there are minor league games again, he mashes and then I feel silly and deny I ever doubted him. It's not like there's any proof just sitting around on the Internet!

Also: 2006 Augusta Greenjackets.

Well, while I generally reserve my right to be critical without offering alternative ideas... I thought our first rounder should have been a pitcher. It seems that the Giants thought that Bishop was just so good that they had to go with him, but to me there were pitchers that I valued equally - Zack Thompson of KY, Alex Manoah of WVU come to mind as college guys. I wasn’t as clear on the HS arms. And I always consider the 3Bs like Brett Baty or even Cody Hoese.
