When I started this year’s process, I had a very clear idea who my top seven players in the org were (now the order of those top seven is a different story). After that….things got wolly! Maaaaaybe the three or four after that top group were fairly stable, but essentially from the point of #8 it feels like I’m pulling the thread on an unraveling sweater that I could knit back together in virtually any form or shape.

Which is just a way of saying that from about 8 onwards the ordinal structure of this list gets looser and looser (as you could probably tell from the color coding back in my depth charts series, which I’m …..shhhhhhh….secretly departing from in tiny ways here and there).

It would be very easy to move anybody in Friday’s grouping into today’s and vice versa, and not such a terribly hard stretch to shuffle in some of last Wednesday’s players. Hopefully, you’re focusing on the writeups more than the numbers, because that’s where (I hope) the real value of this series lies. So if you get to a spot in the rankings where you think: he shouldn’t be here! Go ahead and mentally adjust the player to your preferred spot. I won’t mind — promise! Just, uh, read the full writeup, please. There are a lot of words spilling out my fingers here and they’re not gonna just read themselves!
