Welcome back to the thrilling conclusion of our two part series: The Draft Gambit! In part one, we talked all about how the Giants schemed to find a way to get a top five type player without having a top five type pick. The answer, of course, was to find a player who might have been a top of the draft talent in a different part of the multiverse had he simply taken part in his spring college season as normal. Good idea! Excellent use of the ol’ risk/reward model.

But the Giants didn’t stop there! They went back to the same well — or a very similar well atop the same water table — with their 2nd round pick. For the second consecutive round, they took a college left-hander who had never seen the field that spring.

So for today’s edition of the Top 50, we dig into the strange case of Carson Whisenhunt, who could well be the guy on this list who is best positioned to jump to the top in the coming years.
